Introduction: Catapult for Make It Fly
My name is Ben and I am from Grandview in middle school. My idea for the Make It Fly competition is a simple catapult design, you normally create it with popsicle sticks rubber bands, and a plastic spoon. My idea was similar but I created the base in Fusion 360.
Supplies
You’re going to need some materials for this project. It's not a lot so you can probably get it near you.
- 3D Printer
- Filament
- Plastic spoon
- Rubber Bands or Super Glue
Step 1: Using the Create Tool
Use the create tool and put a square on the x axis and size it to your liking, then you put it in the way that I made it in the picture, you can size it when you spawn it. The arm is pretty basic because it's made up with squares and cylinders, I thought that the arm made in Fusion 360 wasn’t going to bend because it was made of PLA, but, it was bendable because the arm was thin enough. I also came up with this design, a Hotwheels car with a tube on top that held gunpowder but then realized that it was too dangerous, and it didn't make any sense whatsoever. That picture is up above.
Step 2: 3D Printing
3D Print it, the results are up above. Once you’ve done all that, get the rubber bands and connect it with the arm and the base. Then, put something inside the arm, pull it back, and make it fly.
